Serie III Tenor Specs

SELMER (PARIS) SERIE III TENOR SAXOPHONE (U.S. Importer Code: MODEL 64)
Not just a reworking of the popular Serie II, the Serie III represents the next evolution in saxophone design. The differences become immediately apparent just by holding the Serie II and Serie III tenors. Raised left-hand palm keys, ergonomically positioned left-hand table keys, and easy-to-reach right-hand trill keys immediately distinguish the Serie III tenor. By reducing the size of the rib plates that attach the posts to the body and altering the bend of the neck the Serie III tenor responds very quickly and lively.

KEY MECHANISM
Selmer has made the following changes on the Serie III to improve technical facility and increase playing comfort.

  • Left-hand palm keys have been moved up the body (not higher), placing them more directly under the finger and accommodating different hand sizes.
  • Ergonomically positioned left-hand table keys.
  • Natural positioning of the right-hand D# and C natural keys.
  • Direct access to right-hand side/trill keys (Bb, C natural, and high E natural)
  • Power-hammered keys
  • High F# key
  • Tilting Bb spatula

ADJUSTMENTS
Selmer provides these easy-to-make adjustments on the Serie III:

  • Adjusting set screws:
    • Right-hand side/trill C
    • Right-hand side/trill Bb
    • Low B Natural
    • Left-hand/right-hand sections
  • Sliding adjustments:
    • Low C#
    • Left-hand table keys (low Bb-C#)
    • Octave rocker mechanism
    • Front high F
    • Articulated G#

ACOUSTICS

The Serie III represents a new experience in saxophone playing. Quick response results from the use of small, independent ribs holding the posts (less metal dampening the body tube). New scale design delivers improved intonation.

  • Metal left-hand thumb rest
  • Adjustable metal right-hand thumb rest

  • The Serie III plays and sounds very even.
  • Notes connect very cleanly and effortlessly on the Serie III, whether in scales or interval patterns.
