SELMER (PARIS) SERIE III ALTO SAXOPHONE (U.S. Importer Code: Model 62)

Not just a reworking of the popular Serie II, the Serie III represents the next evolution in saxophone design.

KEY MECHANISM

  • Selmer has made the following changes on the Serie III to improve technical facility and increase playing comfort.
  • Left-hand palm keys have been moved up the body (not higher), placing them more directly under the finger and accommodating different hand sizes.
  • Ergonomically positioned left-hand table keys.
  • C# vent key mechanism improves intonation and tone quality of this troublesome note without using alternate fingerings.
  • Natural positioning of the right-hand D# and C natural keys.
  • Direct access to right-hand side/trill keys (Bb, C natural, and high E natural).

ADJUSTMENTS

Selmer provides these easy-to-make adjustments on the Serie III:

  • Adjusting set screws:
    • Right-hand side/trill C
    • Right-hand side/trill Bb
    • Low B Natural (discontinued in 2005)
    • Left-hand/right-hand sections
  • Sliding adjustments:
    • Low C#
    • Left-hand table keys (low Bb-C#)
    • Octave rocker mechanism
    • Front high F
    • Articulated G#

ACOUSTICS

The Serie III represents a new experience in saxophone playing. Quick response results from the use of small, independent ribs holding the posts (less metal dampening the body tube). New scale design delivers improved intonation. Innovative C# venting corrects this troublesome note without using alternate fingerings.

OTHER FEATURES

  • Hand-engraved bell and bow (available without engraving in Clear lacquered and Silver-plated finsihes)

  • Removable left-hand table key support arch
  • Removable bell-body brace ring
  • Sculptured key pearls
  • Adjustable felt bumpers
  • Kid leather pads with metal resonators (no rivet)
  • Wire neck brace

WHAT THE MUSICIANS ARE SAYING

  • The Serie III plays with less resistance. It lets the player concentrate on the music instead of the instrument.
  • As a lead alto player I can really push the Serie III.
  • The Serie III plays with a very focused, centered, and compact sound.
  • The tone of the Serie III sounds rich, full, velvety, smooth and lyrical.
  • The Serie III plays and sounds very even.
  • Notes connect very cleanly and effortlessly on the Serie III, whether in scales or interval patterns.
